The ingredients in your tube of lipstick may surprise you.

In most makeup, there is long list of chemically known irritants and carcinogens. These possibly can have negative side effects ranging from dry skin to severe headaches. You may have never been affected by your makeup in the past, but you would not eat something made with synthetic chemicals or petroleum would you?

The skin is an important organ; it does more than just wrap around the body, keeping things in place. The skin is the largest organ and has several important functions playing major roles in the health of your body. One of its most significant characteristics is its semi-permeability; it can allow certain substances to sink in, while others are blocked out. For example, nutrients are absorbed while toxins are sweat out.

The skin does two jobs; it nourishes and protects the body. However, when products are applied and rubbed directly into the skin, up to 60 percent of the product can be absorbed and deposited into the circulatory system. For instance, the average woman absorbs 30 pounds of the ingredients contained in moisturizers more than 60 years.

With that in mind, what you put on your skin is just as important as what you eat. Taking care of your skin is significant in keeping the skin in good condition so it looks beautiful and properly fulfills its functions. There truly is a difference between natural, organic cosmetics and chemically-manufactured cosmetics.

Organic cosmetics vary in ingredients and the way they are created. Commonly, organic cosmetic manufacturers will be open and proud in describing the ingredients they lack, for example tallow is the ingredient for animal fat most often found in mascara and eyeliners. However, organic cosmetics do not use tallow, artificial ingredients, artificial coloring, ingredients of mammal origin and they do not test their products on animals.

If you have allergies, organic cosmetics are a great alternative. Because organic cosmetics are free of toxins and chemicals, they are extremely unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.

Many of the ingredients in organic cosmetics have been used for thousands of years. This is because they are effective, safe and beneficial to your skin. Natural skin care is easy; organic cosmetics use ingredients familiar to consumers. For instance, honey is used to heal and soften dry, itchy skin. It also can help treat minor burns. Lemon is a gentle form of bleach, used to lighten age spots and freckles. It can brighten hair when used as a rise.

Organic cosmetics are available for just about every health and beauty need. There are many organic cosmetics stores and online shops available for body care, hair care, household cleaners, make-up, nail products, aromatherapy, perfume, skin care and even pet products, such as organic flee baths.

Organic cosmetics stores often are small and independently owned. If you shop at one, you will be sure to get the correct information regarding what really is in the make-up. Some cosmetics do not have the list of ingredients on the product, leaving you only a 1-800 number for curious consumers to contact. You have the right to know what you will be putting on you skin. If they do not put the list of ingredients on the product, it can be viewed as a red flag that there is something they are hiding.

Certified organic cosmetics will be clearly labeled and should say something to the effect of “internationally certified organic.” Those who are certified are run by the strict international standards who take every care and caution with how the plant is grown, harvested, stored, transported and processed.

Whether you are a vegan, do it for animal rights, health benefits, or you have allergies, there is no wrong reason to use organic cosmetics. They are sure way to have peace of mind knowing what you are putting on your skin is all natural.
